Ed has experience in alternative dispute resolution (ADR), which is a less costly and adversarial approach to land use, property and other disputes. When voluntary solutions cannot be achieved, Mr. Yates provides representation in court and has experience in both government oriented “writ of mandamus” litigation and civil litigation. Mr. Yates recently prevailed in law suits in Marin, Sonoma and Santa Barbara Superior Courts, including complex land use, CEQA, Forest Practice Act, Coastal Act and Open Meetings Act cases. Mr. Yates is currently litigating several Endangered Species Act cases in Federal District Court.
